Appraisal Pre-licensing classes
Certified Residential Appraisers must have 200 hours of qualifying education. Also, an associate degree or higher is required. In lieu of the required degree you can have 21 semester credit hours covering the following subject matter courses: English composition; principles of economics (micro or macro); finance; algebra, geometry or higher mathematics; statistics; computer science; and business or real estate law.
However, you can become a Registered Trainee by completing the first 90 classroom hours and applying to take the state exam. The first 90 classroom hours consist of four courses: Basic Appraisal Principles, Basic Appraisal Procedures, 15-Hour National USPAP course and Residential Market Analysis & Highest & Best Use.
