David Segrest, CCIM, CEA, CIPS, TRC
David Segrest is a general broker and consultant in Charlotte. He has completed transactions involving persons or properties from almost every region of the world. He specializes in the acquisition, disposition and management of income properties with an emphasis on net-leased properties and 1031 exchanges.
Real estate brokerage came as a logical next step in a real-estate investing hobby that began in 1972. Experience with many small-business ventures was excellent preparation for managing properties and dealing with users and investors.
Segrest obtained his North Carolina sales license in May 1985. He listed more than $1,000,000 in property in his first month in business and he averaged a closing per week in his first year. He received his broker’s license in August 1985. In May 1986, he opened First Love Realty with two partners. The challenge of commercial realty called and Segrest started Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) training.
In 1988, First Love Realty became David Segrest, Realtor®. In 1989, the name was changed to Segrest International, Inc., to reflect the new focus of the company.
In 1990, Segrest earned the CCIM designation from CIREI. In 1994, he earned the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation from NAR. In 1998, he earned the Certified Exchange Advisor (CEA) designation from the American Institute of Real Estate Exchangers.
Segrest International, Inc. currently has eight agents covering eight counties with complete commercial service (except office). Segrest covers North and South Carolina, and Virginia with counseling and brokerage services on net-leased properties and 1031 exchanges. The management service covers four counties.
