Gary Taylor has taught real estate for more than 25 years, and his reputation as one of the most knowledgeable instructors in the field is well deserved. Taylor was first licensed in Florida in 1978, and he was approved to teach the sales pre-licensing course in 1981 and the broker course in 1986.

Taylor has taught at the Mingle School of Real Estate since 1986.

He served as the school’s director from April 1993 until his retirement in December 1996. Since then, he has served as a part-time instructor with the Mingle School and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC). Taylor was also a consulting editor for the pre-licensing course textbook from Dearborn Financial Publishers, which is the textbook used by area real estate schools for pre-licensing instruction. Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in education from East Carolina University, a master’s degree in public administration, and a master’s degree in counseling and human development from Troy State University. In 1989, he was awarded the prestigious Distinguished Real Estate Instructor (DREI) designation. This designation was designed by the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA) to recognize excellence among real estate instructors. DREI recipients must demonstrate outstanding knowledge and experience in the profession, and all candidates must submit a video recording of their classroom performance as well. The DREI designation is indeed an exclusive club; there are only about 110 DREI recipients nationwide. Taylor currently serves as an active member of REEA on the national and state levels. He has served two terms as president of the North Carolina Real Estate Educators Association (NCREEA).

NCREEA presented Taylor with the Emeritus Award at the NCREC 2010 Spring Educators Conference. Taylor was recognized for his personal contributions to the real estate profession and his long-term commitment to real estate education and NCREEA.
