Steven L. Maher has been in the real estate field for the last 12 years and currently has his own residential appraisal, brokerage and investment firm. He has been with Maher Realty since 1988 and with Steven L. Maher & Associates since 1992.
Prior to getting involved with real estate sales and appraisals, Maher was a regional sales engineer manager with a large multinational corporation. His efforts in selling bridges, storm sewers, sanitation-server materials and water-management control devices to state highways, municipalities and developers have helped design many major communities in the Carolinas since 1980.
In 1968, Maher earned a business administration and finance degree, and worked as a loan-servicing counselor in the savings and loan industry. In 1971, he returned to college and obtained a degree in professional marketing and advertising from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. Maher strongly believes in continuing education (CE). Since taking his first real estate class in 1987, he has completed numerous courses in the field and achieved several designations. Maher is happily married to his wife, Wanda, of 37 years and has three children: Corey, 34; Carey, 32; and Cami, 29. He was a baseball coach for 12 years, a basketball official and past vice president of the PTA for South Charlotte Middle School. He is past president of the Kiwanis Club of South Mecklenburg, which sponsors more than 3,000 children with the Terrific Kids program and hosted the Odyssey of the Mind program at UNC Charlotte and Wingate University.
