Getting started

The real estate pre-licensing course is your first step to obtaining your real estate license.

Students must successfully complete a 75-hour Broker Pre-Licensing course at the school as well as pass the state exam in order to obtain a North Carolina real estate license. After this, you will be awarded a “provisional” broker license.

The required textbook for the class is Modern Real Estate Practice in North Carolina, Seventh Edition, which you may purchase at the Realtor® Store. You can contact the store at 704-940-3126.

After you are licensed

To remove the “provisional” status, you will need to complete three 30-hour Post-Licensing courses within three years. You must take at least one 30-hour Post-Licensing class each year to keep your license status active. You can complete all three 30-hour Post-Licensing classes within the first year if you choose to do so. Failure to complete the required post-licensing classes will result in the cancellation of your license.

High pass rate

The North Carolina Real Estate Commission’s records indicate that 2,061 first-time candidates were tested during the reporting period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 and the overall pass rate for first time candidates during this period was 75 percent.  The Mingle School of Real Estate achieved an 84 percent pass rate July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. Eighty one out of 96 first-time candidates who took the North Carolina real estate licensing exam within 180 days of completing the approved pre-licensing course at Mingle passed the exam.
